HISTORY

A Velocity 9 junkie, the woman that would be known as Mayfly was dying when the Dominators unleashed their Meta-Gene Bomb following the Alien Alliance defeat. Though the bomb killed some humans possessing super-powers, in others it ultimately activated their meta-gene and gave them super-powers.

Mayfly now had super-speed, but she was also a hemophiliac. A mere scratch or bruise would be deadly. She offered services as an assassin and was hired by many. She was eventually hired to eliminate Wonder Woman but was unsuccessful. She was captured, with the hope she would turn on her many prior employers. - Wonder Woman Vol. 2 #78-#79

Imprisoned, she was visited by Donna Milton, an employee of Ares Buchanan. Tricked into believing Milton was helping her, she ingested a scrap of paper laced with unidentified chemicals which increased her super-speed to levels greater than the Flash. Milton did not reveal the side effects, one being the speed was uncontrollable. Mayfly ultimately smashed into a prison wall at high speed, ending her life. - Wonder Woman Vol. 2 #80

POWERS AND WEAPONS

An expert marksman, Mayfly also employs a high velocity rifle with explosive rocket slugs. Coupled with super-speed she was a formidable threat. Prior to her death, she could reach speeds up to Mach 2.
