HISTORY
A criminal organization that has gone through a number of incarnations. Originally, Darkseid assigned a Manhunter clone to gather several super-villains, make them a team that could rid Earth of its super-heroes, and pave the way for Darkseid's takeover of Earth. Eventually, the group rebelled, preferring to rule the Earth themselves. Since then, various interests and leaders like Funky Flashman, Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grodd, the Wizard (I), and the Silver Ghost have taken over or re-formed the organization, including old and new members in the roster, and battled super-heroes like the JLA, the JSA, the Creeper, and the Freedom Fighters. During the most part of the group's activity, it was first infiltrated and then constantly battled by Captain Comet. The last version of the Society was formed by the Ultra-Humanite, who recruited a cadre of villains to battle ten specific heroes of the JLA and the JSA. The plan backfired, however, and the villains ended up in Limbo.
