It is revealed that Parallax had dispatched a splinter aspect of himself in Zero Hour: Crisis in Time #0 that used a corner of time to create a "splinterverse" reality. A scaled down version of his plans in which the strongest of his challengers no longer represented a threat. Heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman (Diana) are dead or no longer active, and the Green Lantern Corps presumably did not exist.

This story takes place before the Green Lantern Vol. 7 #8.
