HISTORY

Vice was chosen for the Red Lantern Corps for his hatred and rage directed at Arkillo of the Sinestro Corps. At some point, Arkillo killed and consumed Vice’s mate. Though Vice has yet to face Arkillo, he has struck against the Sinestro Corps as the yellow ring wielders attempted to free Sinestro from Green Lantern Corps custody.

Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1

Vice returned to attack the Green Lanterns but was apprehended by Lanterns Salakk and Kilowog. Taken to Oa for imprisonment, Vice was placed in a specially calibrated sciencell. Despite the preparations, Vice was still able to escape and brutally attack sciencell warden Lantern Voz before turning on members the Sinestro Corps. The ensuing riot took the lives of Green Lanterns and Sinestro Corps alike. Vice was captured once more, and placed back in a sciencell, thereby avoiding execution by the Alpha-Lanterns. - Green Lantern Corps Vol. 2 #38

When the skies of Oa grew dark with the coming of the Blackest Night, the Black Lantern Corps threatened to overrun the planet and destroy the Central Power Battery. Vice was released from his sciencell by Green Lantern Kyle Rayner and as expected, the Red Lantern attacked any beings in his vicinity. Despite the superior numbers, Vice's fury was turning the tide of battle. Regrettably, Alpha-Lantern Chaselon saw Vice as a sciencell escapee rather than an ally of circumstance, and executed the Red Lantern. - Green Lantern Corps Vol. 2 #42

POWERS AND WEAPONS

As a Red Lantern, Vice wielded a red power ring giving him the capability of flight, survival in space and most dangerously, the ability to spew a napalm-like red plasma from his mouth, which incinerated all it touched.

Described by Johns as "the most brutal of all the Red Lanterns," Vice follows a simple philosophy: tear and destroy. "As soon as one Lantern is down, he goes to the next one," says Johns. This sadistic and vicious personality trait helped Davis come up with the character's unique design.

"We were thinking of weird ways to kill Green Lanterns," remembers Davis. "So, I thought, 'What if you separate the ring from the head?' So, this guy clamps on and rips people's heads off. The one (pincher on the bottom) is bone and doesn't move, so that would shove up through someone's chin, and the other would clamp down on the top of the skull."
