HISTORY
In 1949, rogue scientist Edward Clariss found a way to duplicate the accident that had transformed Jay Garrick into the first Flash. As the Rival, a dark mirror-image of the Flash, Clariss battled Garrick but lost control and disappeared in the Speed Force. Fifty years later, Johnny Sorrow freed Clariss and drafted him into his Injustice Society. A killing spree was followed by a second clash with Garrick, once again ending with Clariss trapped in the Speed Force. Still later, the Flash's Rogues Gallery revived Rival's soul, after which he posed as Joan Garrick's doctor, possessed the body of Max Mercury and re-joined the Injustice Society.
