Synopsis:
Atom Smasher challenges Black Adam to a bout of arm-wrestling. As Sand welcomes the JSA's new curator, he hears the crash of a table collapsing as Black Adam, who is with the team on a probationary basis, wins. Doctor Fate, meanwhile, continues his attempts to wake his wife from her mystically-induced sleep. Doctor Mid-Nite and Mister Terrific tell Sentinel of their hypothesis that his whole body is actually composed of the green flame he wields - his appearance and physicality are simply the results of willpower. Star-Spangled Kid shows Hawkgirl pictures of her new half-sister, just as Hawkman pays a visit, offering to take Hawkgirl out for a meal. She declines, but he leaves her a bunch of tulips anyway. And as they clear up the mess they made, Atom Smasher and Black Adam come close to blows again, but are interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Captain Marvel.
Later, Sand finds Hawkgirl in distress, because tulips are her favorite flower, and she hates the fact that Hawkman both knows her intimately and doesn't know her at all. When Hawkman returns to the HQ determined to tell Hawkgirl that he will accept her decisions, he catches sight of Sand and Hawkgirl through a window, sharing a passionate embrace.
