Synopsis:
Sand confronts Speed Saunders, Hawkgirl's grandfather, hoping to learn some more about her and so to help her. What he is told is deeply disturbing: Kendra Saunders is dead, the woman who woke up after Kendra's suicide attempt was someone else, someone with differently colored eyes. Kendra is also learning this at the same time, but refuses to heed the angel Zauriel as he tells her that her soul mate is returning. Saunders is convinced that this event will be traumatic.
Far in the past, at the time of the Egyptian pharaohs, a time-lost Flash is taken into the confidence of Prince Khufu, who tells him of an otherworldly ship which crash-landed in the desert. Here they encountered an alien woman with a mysterious warning, and discovered the nth metal, which granted Khufu the power of flight among other attributes. Khufu also reveals that he knows that he and his beloved, Chay-Ara, are destined to be reborn in the future and to take part in a great battle. To prepare for this battle, he and his advisers have forged a great weapon from the nth metal, the Claw of Horus, which they entrust to the Flash, returning him to his rightful time by the same route he took to get here, using borrowed speed from Teth-Adam.
In the present, the Justice Society find Kendra at the grave of her parents and attempt to demonstrate their friendship and concern for her. They are unable to comfort her and she flies away once more. Black Adam pursues her, and when he reaches her, she is transformed into a being of light, streaking away into the upper atmosphere and beyond, leaving Black Adam to plunge to Earth. As he does so, the Flash also appears suddenly, telling his team-mates that their friend Hawkman is coming back.
Hawkgirl finds herself on the planet of Thanagar, being worshiped by the priests of the Talon of Truth.
