Synopsis: - In Denver, the Martian Manhunter is on the trail of a serial killer, but stumbles instead into a hallucination of his life on Mars and from there into an attack from White Martians. In Metropolis, Lois Lane is suddenly compelled to reveal to all and sundry that Clark Kent wears Superman's uniform under his shirt. In Gotham City, when Batman rescues a psychic tormented by ghosts, Nightwing is compelled to cut Batman's rope. And in Murmansk, Russia, the rest of the JLA - Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Plastic Man - help a panicked populace who have been without power for almost a week. What they don't expect is that some of them go completely mad and try to restart the nuclear power station using a submarine's fuel rods.
- Lois and Clark rapidly make up a cover story at the Daily Planet; both Lois and Nightwing have no explanation for what happened other than that someone seemed to be controlling them for a moment. In Murmansk, a devastating nuclear explosion occurs - Green Lantern keeps everyone safe behind a protective energy bubble, but the people suddenly start to converge on him, as if to deliberately disturb his concentration. The people are seemingly being driven to suicide. Meanwhile, in Phoenix, the Martian Manhunter awakes to torture at the hands of his White Martian kidnappers.
