Synopsis: - The JLA has fallen to the deceitful Cathexis, leaving the fate of the world in the hands of their secret identities. Eel O'Brian sees that the only hope they have is to undo Superman's wish that separated the heroes and their civilian selves in the first place. Aquaman fears that there may not be enough of Id's energy left in Superman to reverse the process, and his fears are well-founded, as each of the sets of identities merges partially but not fully, neither half willing to surrender.
- The Cathexis then begin to neutralize the JLA further, separating Aquaman into human and amphibian halves, both away from water. Wonder Woman fights back, defying them to split her in half. They do so, believing that a form of clay and a form of spirit are less dangerous than her normal self. They are wrong. In essence, Diana embodies truth, and in her spirit form is therefore able to reveal the truth to her six split team-mates - that they will be stronger whole. The JLA go into action, the Flash using his vibrational abilities to keep Id in check. Sensing a way to win, he wills the 6-dimensional Cathexis to become 3-D beings who can be punched out by Batman, who finds the act very satisfying. Freed up to concentrate fully on Id, the heroes of the League join their wills together, making Id destroy itself and send the Cathexis back home.
