HISTORY
The Interfaith Deity Council of Active Polytheistics (I.D.C.A.P.) is an organization formed by the different pantheons of Earth in order to better promote themselves in the modern world and to handle common threats. Through the centuries, many of the old gods have lost their followers in the wake of enlightenment, free will and the growth of major religions such as Christianity and Islam. Many gods feed off the faith of the followers, and the loss of true believers has left them weakened compared to how they were in their prime. As a result, pantheons all over the world recently put aside old grievances and rivalries and decided to work together to create a common forum and agenda. Thus, the Interfaith Deity Council of Active Polytheistics was born.
Two recent incidents may have acted as triggers for the formation of I.D.C.A.P. First, the Greek Titan Cronus' attack on the Greek and Hindu pantheons and the Host of Heaven itself. After Wonder Woman and Rama helped avert this attack, the assembled deities and angels agreed that such a sursprise attack could have been avoided, had there only been some sort of active communication going on between pantheons. It was decided that some sort of regular meetings of exchanges would take place.
Second, it has been claimed that Earth's heroes' victory over the cosmic annihilator Imperiex and a subsequent age of universal free will marked a loss of prestige and power for the remaining pantheons of Earth. Their power boosted by the Imperiex War, the war gods of different pantheons banded together in an attempt to destroy the other gods. Among these war gods were Sehkmet of the Egyptian Gods, Ares of the Olympian Gods and Kartikeyya of the Hindu Gods. Also, in the aftermath of the war, Superman stated clearly to a cosmic inquest regarding his role in the destruction of Imperiex as a force of nature, that he was first and foremost a mortal and rejected other authorities.
Superman, Wonder Woman and the Metal Men recently had dealings with I.D.C.A.P., when Superman was approached by a faux version of I.D.C.A.P. made up of evil gods who wanted to recruit Superman and latch on to the popularity of the superheroes, the modern-day equivalent of mythological heroes and demigods. Ahriman (Zoroastrian god of evil) led Baal (Semitic god of the storm and fertility), Morrigan (Celtic goddess of war), Izanami (Japanese goddess of the underworld), and Mixcoatl (Aztec god of war and hunting) in a campaign to flatter Superman into joining them as a god. When that failed, they treid to turn Superman's wife Lois Lane into a goddess of integrity, but the plot backfired when Lois used her newfound powers to see through the gods' glamour and expose their evil plans to Superman. When all had failed, the gods attempted to kill Superman, but they were defeated by Superman with the help of the Metal Men and Wonder Woman. In the aftermath of the battle, presesentatives for the true I.D.C.A.P. suddenly appeared; Zeus, Odin, Ale and Thoth took the evil gods into custody.
