HISTORY

Val-Ty AKA Greyline was a murderer who eluded capture by Green Lantern Tomar-Re of Sector 2813 during the destruction of the Kryptonian city of Xan. At some point he was captured by Krypton's security forces and sentenced to the Phantom Zone.

Years after the destruction of the planet Krypton, the Phantom Zone prisoners escaped their twilight dimension and attempted to conquer Earth under the leadership of General Zod. Presumably, Greyline was among them. They were defeated by Superman and Earth's heroes.

Some time later, Superman freed the Bottled City of Kandor from Brainiac. The Kryptonians set about creating a new world, New Krypton. With the destruction of the Phantom Zone, a number of criminals including Greyline, were now fugitives on New Krypton.

The creation of a new world in Sector 2814 led the Guardians of the Universe assigned Green Lanterns Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Sodam Yat to New Krypton for a fact-finding mission. While the Lanterns were visitng the planet's ship building facilities, Greyline attempted to steal a cruiser which alerted security forces to his presence.

Though it had been years since hie eluded Tomar-Re, he was still on Oa's most wanted list. He was apprehended by New Krypton's Red Shard military unit. To avoid diplomatic tensions, Greyline was confined by Kryptonian forces, rather than being extradited to Oa.
