HISTORY
Doctor Faustus was a criminal who beleived himself immortal as a result of a deal with Satan, requiring a human sacrifice the first of each month... and sometimes on the twelfth. At some point in the past, he and his gang were caught when he insisted they fight the Batman. His gang went to Blackgate Prison. Doctor Faustus went to Arkham Asylum.
When Bane destroyed Arkham, the inmates had to be temporarily moved to Blackgate. Tensions between Jeremiah Arkham and Blackgate's warden were high as the asylum inmates were not wanted in the prison by the staff of the criminals. - Showcase '94 #3
A wager was made by both men on the outcome of a baseball game between their charges. Despite his shortcomings as a criminal, Doctor Faustus did quite well as the team captain until a staged riot broke out. Two Blackgate inmates attempted an escape by helicopter. They were killed, but Doctor Faustus charged in to take their place. His immortality was put to the test when the helicopter crashed. He has not been seen since. - Showcase '94 #4
