HISTORY
Claiming to be the wife of Niles Caulder, the chief of the original Doom Patrol, Celsius founded a second patrol, dedicating the group to finding the whereabouts of the Chief, whom she believed to be alive. She was possessed of the natural ability to emit bursts of heat and cold from her hands, triggered, she claimed, when Niles gave her an immortality serum.
When Niles Caulder returned, he claimed that Arani's stories were all falsehood, and the truth might never have been revealed, as she sacrificed herself to save her team-mates during the combined alien invasion of Earth.

During the event known as the Blackest Night, a black ring descended upon the remains of Arani Desai, downloaded all of her memories and created a duplicate of her body that rose from the grave as a member of the Black Lantern Corps. As the ring downloaded her memories it seemed to confirm the claim that she was indeed Niles' wife.
