HISTORY

The being known as Adam was originally a clone of Project Cadmus. He was grown from a merging of the DNA of the Guardian and Dubbilex and designed as a 'perfect being'. After an attack on Cadmus by the New Gods, Adam ended up taking control of the project. He was obsessed with the idea of wiping out the 'imperfect' humanity and planned to replace it with a world of clones all controlled by himself. However, the villain was defeated by a co-operation of several heroes.

Years later, Adam appeared as the leader of a cult, and seduced Zatanna's roommate, Sheri Stanley, into joining it. Zatanna ended up being kidnapped by Adam, who extracted her Homo Magi DNA and grafted it onto his own. As a result of his new magic powers, Adam claimed to have achieved godhood. During an attempt to merge with the mystic Godhead, Adam was defeated by Zatanna's teammates in the JLA. However, Zatanna was able to restore Adam to sanity and then help him merge with the Godhead.

Adam continued to accompany Zatanna and they eventually fell in love. However, their relationship was abruptly ended by the evil Wotan, who attacked Zatanna for his own purposes and brutally killed Adam.
