Official Name: The Timestream

HISTORY

The Timestream is the flow of Time that we all pass through in our lives. The stream can be perceived as a place and used for time-traveling (by every time-traveler from Rip Hunter to Chronos to Hourman to Kid Eternity). You can also get lost in it. Among its inhabitants are the Endless One (a gelatinous being who once encountered the JLA) and the Forever Man (the Warlord's friend Doctor Reno Franklin).

The Linear Men's Vanishing Point is the only known "place" that exists totally outside the Timestream. Possibly, the Timestream is part of Destiny's Garden, and can be used to access different Hypertimelines.

Many forces have attempted to manipulate the timestream, to varying degrees of success as well as failure as the Timestream appears to correct any potential damage by the existence of "time-traps." This phenomena was discovered by Superman as he travelled back in time to prevent many notable tragedies. At first thinking himself unsuccessful, he learned he had been diverted to a parallel universe Earth-146 where his appearances were recorded in history books. He dared not stay long as his existence in that universe threatened cosmic destruction.

Similarly, the being known as the Time Trapper was able to create a Pocket Universe, notable for a version of Superboy, thus sparing the reality from the destruction wrought by the Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Legion of Super-Heroes was thus diverted to this reality and inspired by the Boy of Steel who became a member of their team until his death.
