Synopsis: - Firebrand comes to Metropolis on the tail of a criminal gang of teenagers known as the Devil's Own. Here he encounters Guardian, who assumes he is one of the bad guys. Once this misunderstanding has been cleared up, the two men track the obviously mind-controlled gang together and are able to prevent their leader from summoning some terrible demonic entity.

Synopsis: - Doctor Fate contacts the Shade for help in bringing an end to the schemes of a cult known as the Wise Fools, who plan to recreate the events that made the Shade who he is. The dark sometimes-villain is persuaded to help him when he learns that the man named Culp is behind this group, and the two move in on the Wise Fools' base.
