HISTORY
Imprisoned in Blackgate for life, Donnegan fashions a ventriloquist's dummy from the charred wood of the old gallows - a dummy that seems to have a life of its own, threatening to spill Donnegan's escape plans. When Donnegan gets a cellmate, Arnold Wesker, he brutalizes him. Then, when Wesker plans suicide, he is talked out of it. By the dummy.
Woody, the dummy carved from the gallows wood, incites Arnold Wesker to kill his cellmate Donnegan, and the two of them escape from Blackgate together. They get costumes more befitting their status as soon-to-be crime lords, and Woody tries to teach Wesker to be a better ventriloquist, with little success. But no matter, he's ready to take on Gotham - from now on, call him Scarface!
