HISTORY

Professor Able was a scientist who intended to start a criminal empire as "Professor Elba" in the 1940s. With the help of an associate, the criminal scientist called Brain Wave (I), Elba developed an "insanity serum" which caused men to become ravaging beasts. In 1942, the serum's effects drew the attention of the Justice Society of America, who pursued the Professor in a case where Doctor Mid-Nite (I) and Starman (I) won their spurs as new JSA members. A final showdown with Mid-Nite ended with Elba crashing out from a window to his death.

Elba's meeting with the JSA later inspired the Brain Wave to encounter the heroes.
