HISTORY

Hartley Rathaway was born deaf, a situation which his wealthy parents were determined to 'correct'. When he was granted hearing, music became his life. Unfortunately a terrible musician, he became a scientific genius in the field of sonics, using music-induced hypnosis to get what he wanted. Becoming bored, he took on the identity of the Pied Piper and battled the Flash many times.

He has since reformed and assisted Wally West, the new Flash on numerous occasions. Recently framed for the murder of his own parents, Piper was driven mad by an unjustified stay in Iron Heights and has gone on the run, recruited along with Heat Wave for some sort of government operation organised by James Jesse, the former Trickster.
