HISTORY
On the Moon of Luth stands the lone city Inertia Megaplex, created to serve the moon's only organic lifeforms, the Overlords.
Obese, lethargic and smugly superior, the twelve Overlords were served by hundreds of robots of all shapes and sizes. Regreatably, their robotic servants could not save them from a rash of unprecendented disappearances.
After the third Overlord disappeared and was presumed dead, Overlord Prime ordered a robot underling to summon Green Lantern to solve their problem. A transmission from this automaton told ring wielder Kyle Rayner to travel to the Inertia Megaplex.
Rayner was brought to Overlord Prime and told of the service he would perform. Initially rejecting their arrogant demand, Rayner realized his greater responsibility as the universe's sole Green Lantern.
Rayner discovered the three Overlords had been taken and devoured by an alien creature resembling an enormous Earth spider. The alien had been travelling to its homeworld when its starcraft was damaged, forcing it to set down on the Moon of Luth. Landing in a canyon some distance from the Inertia Megaplex, the alien went unnoticed by the self-absorbed Overlords. The alien had eaten the three Overlords as they were the only organic material on the small moon. She had done this to feed her gestating offspring.
The Overlords did not travel to the crash site. Instead, robotic servants and floating video screens with cameras allowed the Overlords to view the alien starcraft. The Overlords demanded the death of the alien but Rayner would not comply. They sent every last robot at their disposal but the ring wielder would not allow them to harm the alien. Hundreds of the robots fell in combat, trying to kill Rayner to get at the alien. When the last robot was destroyed, Rayner showed the Overlords what had stalked them.
The alien's offspring had hatched and devoured their mother as was instinctive to their species. Overlord Prime was still unsatisfied. He demanded the death of the brood as well. Unfortunately for the Overlords, Green Lantern would honor the alien spider's last wish. He took the four creatures back to the alien's homeworld.
Stripped of their robotic servants, the Overlords would be forced to fend for themselves. Green Lantern left the Moon of Luth with the static filled screams of the Overlords fading into the distance. - Green Lantern Vol. 3 #95

GLCWP NOTE
No explanation was given as to how the Overlords could find Kyle on Earth. I'm assuming they could somehow track power ring energy.
Assuming Kyle didn't hand the Overlords a death sentence by leaving them to their own devices, I'm willing to bet those guys would be pretty P.O.ed at him.
