HISTORY

For six months the mysterious Mystral had been working undercover to try and bring down the militia group known as White Heat. Mystral found a way to get close to the militia group’s leader, George Deegan, by posing as his attractive, blonde companion. To Mystral’s chagrin, the White Heat case gained Batman’s attention when former Soviet spy Piotr Vilk, who had been working with the militia, was caught by a security camera stealing an outdated computer-link from the Gotham Phone Company. Batman sent Robin (Tim Drake) to the phone company to investigate, and Mystral broke Robin’s safety rope to try and dissuade the young crime fighter from interfering in her case. However, this action seemed to only intrigue Robin further as he followed Vilk, the case, and Mystral to the Lonesome Pines Ski Lodge where the Russian spy planned to meet with the militia.

The situation blew up in Mystral’s face when Robin, along with fellow teen hero Impulse (Bart Allen), attempted to break up Vilk’s sale of the computer link to White Heat. Mystral was forced to blow her cover and appear in her costume to aid the young heroes in the ensuing battle. Vilk and White Heat were temporarily able to lose the heroes when Vilk caused an avalanche that buried the powerful trio. Impulse was able to dig them out of the avalanche debris, and Mystral used her clairvoyance to lead herself and the teen heroes to the abandoned military base Mount Crockett that the militia was trying to break into using the old computer-link. Mystral, Robin, and Impulse made short work of defeating the militia guards outside the base while Vilk and Deegan were able to make it inside. Robin and Impulse then found their way inside the base and were forced to shut down a nuclear launch sequence that Vilk had started from using the base’s computers. While the teens were busy with that, Mystral was able to capture Vilk who had just murdered Deegan.

After they secured the base, the heroic trio managed to neutralize the rest of White Heat’s forces on the mountain. Mystral then disappeared into the cabin she shared with Deegan while undercover. Robin and Impulse entered the cabin only to find a discarded mask and blonde wig to suggest that Mystral had been in disguise all along and that the blonde woman Robin saw was neither her true appearance nor her identity. POWERS AND WEAPONS

Mystral has the abilities of flight, enhanced strength, and clairvoyance. While flying, Mystral seems to keep low to the ground suggesting her capability may be limited to hovering though she can carry another human being with her while in flight. Mystral is powerful enough to throw a snowmobile or beak through a metal wall, so her strength is at a meta-human level. She principally uses her clairvoyance to track people by getting a “mental fix” on them, and it is unknown if she can use her clairvoyance in any other capacity. Mystral is a master of disguise as she was able to use just a mask and a wig to fool the trained detective Robin into believing that they were her real face and hair. She was also able to work undercover for six months straight, so acting is very likely a part of her skill set.
