HISTORY

Buried deep beneath the surface of Earth's moon lays relics of an ancient civilization. The sole, living inhabitant was entombed for reasons as yet unknown. Presumably, the creature's species died out millions of years ago. Possibly the last of its race, the creature was kept alive, in suspended animation. Scores of robotic sentries were left to guard the holding cell from any attempted escapes.

In the early 21st century, the Justice League Watchtower was constructed on the moon, near the alien artifacts. Seeking to expand the lower levels of the Watchtower, the Leaguers chose Green Lantern Kyle Rayner to excavate the required space. In doing so, Rayner uncovered the opening to the holding cell. Wandering in, Rayner set off the security robots which instantly attacked him. Armed with the superior might of his power ring, Rayner was able to dispatch the automatons after a pitched battle.

Curiosity drove Rayner to open the containment shell, waking the insectoid creature. It turned on him with weaponry similar to that wielded by the robot guards. Unable to defeat the creature with his power ring, Rayner chose to use the ring's energy to empower one of the damaged robots. The charged robot was able to capture the creature in tightening circles of energy which rendered it unconscious. Rayner returned the creature to the containment shell seconds before the energy tore the robot apart. - Green Lantern Vol. 3 #125

GLCWP NOTE

Since its doubtful we'll ever know why the alien was held in a pod under guard, I'm at a complete loss as to why it would be entombed/imprisoned with weaponry.

A self-contained issue, Green Lantern Vol. 3 #125 marked the end of Ron Marz's run on Green Lantern.
