HISTORY

The early years of the man known as The Mist are still shrouded in secrecy. He revealed that he fought in World War I as a Canadian and received the Victoria Cross for his bravery in battle.

Coming to New York to try to sell his invention, a machine that dissolved the atomic bonds of materials, he was enraged when he found that the group of investors would not fund him, he was contacted by a criminal who used his machine to blackmail. In a short battle with The Sandman, the machine was damaged and the beam turned on him. Instead of killing him, it gave him the ability to transform into a intangible mist.

Bringing this power under control, he sought out plunder in Opal City and ran afoul of the original Starman, whom he battled on many occasions.

With few morals, happy to work with his country's enemies, the Mist's hatred of Starman and his family continued unabated for decades. In recent years, his mental health failing, the Mist appointed his son Kyle to be his successor, though the younger Mist was killed soon after, his sister becoming the second Mist instead. A deal with the demon Neron restored the original Mist's faculties, and he returned to battle the Starmen once more.

Having killed his daughter, he planned to level the whole of Opal City with a devastating bomb blast, but was prevented by his old enemy in an action which cost them both their lives.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

The Mist was able to transform into an intangible, ghost like form. He originally used a machine, but was able to activate the ability with a serum later on.
