Synopsis: - Ra's al Ghul has put in place a plan to cause humanity to begin thinning itself. In order to do so he must neutralise the JLA, and in order to do that he must distract Batman by stealing the bodies of his (i.e. Bruce Wayne's) parents. The detective out of the way, Talia attacks the Martian Manhunter with a cloud of nanites. Later, Flash and Wonder Woman battle to create a fire break in the Black Forest, site of a massive forest fire. In the centre of the blaze, they discover a living, burning figure. Putting him out, by creating an oxygen-sucking vortex around him, they discover that it's their teammate, the aforementioned Manhunter.
- Elsewhere, Aquaman (accompanied by Plastic Man) is called in by the United Nations (in his capacity as ruler of Atlantis) to help mediate a dispute between the nations of Turkey and Rhapastan. There they are attacked, Plastic Man with a substance that turns him brittle, and Aquaman with a gas. Plas smashed, and Aquaman suddenly hydrophobic, they retreat to the JLA watchtower. Here they learn that nanites have bonded with J'onn's skin, meaning that exposure to air causes him to ignite.
- Far away, Ra's al Ghul activate a device which turns all written material to utter garbage, or babble. In New York, Wonder Woman and Flash reach Green Lantern's apartment, discovering that their friend has gone blind.
