Synopsis: - Impulse arrives back in the present to find that Jay is fighting his oldest enemy, Rival, and Joan is afraid he'll kill the villain. Impulse tries to intervene, and discovers the whole plot. Rival posed as a doctor to get Jay and Joan out of Keystone City so that they wouldn't be able to help Flash against the Rogues; he also planned to kill Joan via the treatment that was supposed to save her. He is using Max Mercury's physical form, with Max's spirit trapped in the speed force. Ultimately, Rival is able to get away, and neither Impulse nor Jay have any idea how to get Max back. On a happier note, it looks like Joan will be cured easily, and Bart does have Carol back in his life.
