Synopsis: - At the Keystone City Police Department, Flash receives disturbing news of a spate of murders committed the previous night. One of the victims was Mark Wilson, who works for city hall and who was saved from Doctor Alchemy by the Flash. He and his colleagues were all murdered by unidentified assassins, as were many others who'd been rescued by the Flash. He persuades Detective Morillo, an out-of-towner who made the connection to his rescues, to let him examine the crime scenes at high speed. As he does this, his wife, Linda West, is present at the demonstrations organized by union boss Keith Kenyon. She also tries to contact their friend Piper, before being called in to report on another story. Somewhere else, a cultic organization called Cicada is roused by its leader, each member saying that they will die in the name of the Flash.
- The Flash discovers that Julie Jackam is on the list of the dead and arrives at her apartment shortly after her police partner Fred Chyre. Wally promises Chyre that they will catch the people responsible. After the two of them part company, the Flash visits Magenta, an encounter which becomes violent, though Magenta insists that she loves him, as do the other 'Children' of Cicada.
