Synopsis: - Captain Cold busts Wally out of the police cell, and the two go in search of an answer to where or when they are, starting with a visit to Jay Garrick. At the same time the police department are up against the assassin Plunder, who is working for The Thinker. When they arrive at the Garricks' house, Cold and Wally discover that Jay was killed in action as a soldier in World War II and that Joan is married to Edward Clariss, a scientist rival of Jay's, who treats her badly.
- They also discover, from a book by John Law, that this world has never known speedsters, and that this has had many tragic consequences including the destruction of Central City. It is the circumstance of this last tragedy, where Central City was left in rubble by a war between three villains, that causes Wally to realize they're in a mirror world. He is backed up by the fact that Cold is using his left hand for his gun rather than his right. Before they can do anything about it, however, the police arrive, with Barry Allen among them.
