HISTORY

In the early 1930s, thief Isaac Bowin was tossed into a small dank cell in India. His only cellmate was an elderly fakir who no one else would stay with for very long. Hoping to find something to pass the time, Bowin learned many secrets about music from the wizened man. Taking his own skills, the two built a violin that would allow them to escape. Making good his escape, he killed the fakir and made his way to America, where he used his skills to make money through various nefarious schemes, one of which was impersonating his brother, a popular classical violinist. Coming into conflict with the original Flash, he devised an arsenal of fiddles which could create force fields, shatter solid objects or hypnotize people through musical vibrations.

More prone to working with others, he often teamed with other foes of the Justice Society of America, even forming a small subgroup that sent Keystone City into limbo for decades. This act eventually lead to first the original Flash, then the rest of the Justice Society coming out of retirement, much to his detriment.

He remained a villain for many years but was eventually killed when opposing the 'Society' of villains that sprung up in the wake of revelations regarding the Justice League's actions in wiping the minds of various villains. His role has been taken over by a woman named Virtuoso, who may be his granddaughter.

BLACK LANTERN: FIDDLER

During the event known as the Blackest Night, a black ring descended upon his corpse located in Belle Reve. The ring downloaded all of the Fiddler's memories and created a duplicate of his body that rose from the grave as a member of the Black Lantern Corps to prey upon the Suicide Squad and the Secret Six. Black Lantern Fiddler was destroyed by the explosion of a Manhunter which released spectrum energy. -Secret Six Vol. 3 #18
