HISTORY
While cataloguing the collection of 18th century sorcerer Cagliostro, art history professor Anton Lamont came across the ancient sorcerer's legendary conjure cloak. This garment is supposedly possessed with great mystical power. Lamont quickly deduced the means to operate the cloak and embarked on a criminal career. When Midway Museum curators Carter and Shiera Hall returned from a long vacation, they found the Fadeaway Man had taken their places as interim leader and was attempting to loot the Museum. In their aliases of Hawkman and Hawkgirl, they defeated him, but he escaped using his conjure-cloak. Months later Anton resurfaced in Gotham City, where he attempted to auction off a sarcophagus to the highest bidder. He was defeated by Hawkman and Batman, and although captured, took his cloak with him to prison. Shortly before the 'Infinite' Crisis, Fadeaway Man joined the Society and became a constant thorn in Hawkman's side.
