HISTORY

Herbert Hynde, known as the Earthworm was the immoral leader of a baby-selling operation. He and his henchmen would purchase infants from poor parents and cash-strapped orphanages, selling them on to wealthy, but childless, couples.

Later, the demon Neron brought him to Hell and offered him a deal – his soul for a great increase in power. He attacked Guy Gardner along with Cheetah and Blackguard. Unfortunately for them, the villains had made a mistake, attacking Guy's evil clone Joe, who trounced them all. Earthworm found himself in jail with little delay.

[Note: Pre-Crisis, Earthworm's operation was brought down by Huntress (Helena Wayne), and Earthworm escaped into the sewers. It is unknown who, if anyone, he encountered prior to his deal with Neron in post-Crisis continuity.]
