Batman gives Sasha Bordeaux thirty days to train herself physically to a point where she will not be a liability if she accompanies him on patrol. She is not too happy about this, but works determinedly - if she fails then Bruce Wayne will fire her, despite the fact that she knows his secret.
In the Police Department, Inspector Esperanza begins an internal investigation, which leads Detectives Allen and Montoya to fear for their jobs. However, it seems that they are worried about nothing, for the investigation is not into the recent Mad Hatter affair, but about the disappearance of Jordan Rich, the man who probably shot James Gordon.

He interviews Bruce Wayne and a number of more 'normal' Gotham residents, but only finds one person who recognizes her and a trail gone cold. He is then quizzed himself by Batman. Thoroughly fed up with the case, yet determined to see it through, he returns to his office, where he is greeted by Catwoman herself.
