HISTORY
Azarath was a pacifistic community, residing in a limbo between dimensions. Azar, their spiritual leader, founded Azarath in the 14th century with a group of disciples who chose to forsake life on Earth to pursue their own non-violent lifestyle. Azar's daughter became the second Azar in the 17th century, and her granddaughter became Azar of modern times. The Azaratheans were long-lived through mystical means.
When the human woman Arella had been raped by the demon Trigon, she found a refuge in Azarath. Her daughter Raven (VI), the spawn of Trigon, was brought up in the community. When the teenaged Raven sensed that her father would attempt to conquer Earth, she pleaded with the people of Azarath to battle the demon. However, the Azaratheans did not believe in taking violent action, and Raven formed the New Teen Titans to oppose Trigon instead. During the Titans' second battle with Trigon, Azarath was destroyed, and all members except Arella were killed. However, their souls survived and took root in the Titan Jericho. Now tainted with the evil of Trigon, the souls of Azarath corrupted Jericho's mind until he became the supervillain called Wildebeest. A battle between the Titans and the Wildebeest Society in the remains of Azarath ended with the death of Jericho. During the battle, Arella, Titan Danny Chase, and the Azarathean souls accidentally merged into the being called Phantasm, of which they are still part.
The Azarath dimension is now an uninhabited wasteland.
