HISTORY
Mobius, the Anti-Monitor is one of three sons of Perpetua. He was brought into existence in the Sixth Dimension 20 billion years ago to oversee the guard the boundaries of creation and keep them free of life in the newly created Antimatter Universe.
Five billion, two hundred thousand years later his brother Mar Novu, the Monitor gathered him and their third brother The World Forger in the Promethean Galaxy. The Monitor had learned that their mother had fulfilled her function when creating the Multiverse and was planning on fighting the Judges of the Source to stay alive. Fearing for their own fates he had created a a cosmic tuning fork to broadcast a signal to contact the Judges. Both their mother and the Judges heard the call. Perpetua attacked her sons, accusing them of treachery, but she was herself stopped by an envoy of the Judges who created a Source Wall that closed of the Multiverse, Antimatter Universe and Dark Multiverse from the greater Omniverse and trapped Perpetua within.
With the Antimatter Universe closed of from the Omniverse the very purpose of the Anti-Monitor's domain became obsolete. Blaming his brother the Anti-Monitor vowed that the Monitor would pay for his actions and that he would strike down on infinite worlds to just to crush his brother's neck even if it would take him a billion years to gain the required knowledge.
As Perpetua was trapped in the Source Wall reality was started anew. At the beginning of the new reality there was only one universe, but when Oan scientist Krona's forbidden experiments unleashed entropy in the Universe, one of the consequences was the creation of the Antimatter Universe. With the creation of the antimatter universe the Anti-Monitor was born anew on the Dark Moon of Qward, the moon of Oa's anti-matter counterpart, while the Monitor was reborn on the moon of Oa. The two Monitors were aware of each other from the beginning, and battled a war for a million years, but being of equal power, neither could win. A simultaneous barrage from both participants rendered both unconscious for several billion years, until both were awoken again because of a chain reaction caused by the alien scientist Kell Mossa, whose anti-matter chamber exploded during his attempts to uncover the origin of the Universe.
The Anti-Monitor then took control of Qward and created the Thunderers as his own private army. By destroying and absorbing the energies of countless universes, the Anti-Monitor grew stronger. Finally, five universes were the only obstacles that remained. The Monitor, however, had recruited an army of super-powered beings, mainly the heroes of Earth, to oppose the evil. The war went on for months and many heroes perished in the battles. An all-out battle at the dawn of time, plus the combined forces of Earth's heroes, the Spectre and Darkseid, finally defeated the greatest villain of all time.
As a result of the events of the Crisis, the five remaining universes merged into a single universe and history was rewritten. In the new universe, the Anti-Monitor had grown to power by destroying and absorbing the energies of countless worlds and timelines within the singular universe, but was still stopped by the heroes of Earth.
The Anti-Monitor's remains were later gathered by Alexander Luthor, Jr. (Earth-3 - Pre-Crisis Multiverse) to use as part of a vibrational tuning fork in an attempt to recreate the Multiverse. While he managed to splinter off the Earth into thousands of new worlds resembling those of the former Multiverse, these worlds were unstable becoming weaker and weaker the more they were divided. Eventually they would all collapse back into one universe, or so it would seem. The new universe, however, was not strong enough to contain all the energies within it so it replicated itself until there were 52 universes in a new Multiverse.
The creation of the new Multiverse resulted in the rebirth of the Anti-Monitor. Still not at full power he joined forces with the Sinestro Corps in so that he could start siphoning off energy and continue his quest of destroying the Multiverse. He was eventually defeated by the Guardians of the Universe and the Green Lantern Corps. With his armor almost destroyed Superboy-Prime decided to take his revenge on the Anti-Monitor for destroying his Earth during the Crisis on Infinite Earths and shattered the remaining part of his armor and hurled him into space.
He would eventually end up on the planet Ryot where he would be trapped in the Black Lantern Central Power Battery.
