HISTORY
In the 19th century, an explorer named Arthur Gordon Pym discovered the underground Dzyan race on an expedition to the Antarctic (as told in The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym by Edgar Allan Poe). The Dzyans' source of power was the Vril, a mysterious magical energy. After learning how to master the Vril, Pym started a career as a pirate and began calling himself Captain Nemo (not to be confused with Jules Verne's character). The Vril increased Pym's life span. In 1912, Pym/Nemo was responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. Pym's son refused to have anything to do with his father's criminal activities, but used the Vril himself to conceive a powerful child with the power of opposing the evil grandfather. The resulting child was the mutant known as Neptune Perkins, aquatic superhero in the 1940s and late US senator.
