HISTORY
The Unseeing were a trio of magic users wielding Source Rings, serving the United Planets under the direct control of Lord Premier Thaaros. The origins of their powers and how they fell under Thaaros' sway remain unrevealed. Their primary function was to enforce a strict quarantine of Sector 2814, preventing all travel in or out.[1]
Thaaros' used the United Planets Lantern Corps as his personal army, but renegades within that proved a threat to his designs. The Unseeing were tasked with finding the resistance so they could be crushed. They even laid a trap for rebellious Green Lanterns, though the Lanterns managed to escape, proving that the Unseeing's visions were not absolute.
Thaaros's hold over events was visibly slipping. The Unseeing sensed Green Lantern Hal Jordan retained power outside the control of the United Planets. Furthermore, while the Zamarons had been destroyed, the Unseeing were taken aback by the existence of Star Sapphire Carol Ferris.[2]
Returning their focus to the quarantine, the Unseeing coordinated the activities of the United Planets Lanterns. The arrival of Green Lantern Alan Scott was initially meant as a distraction for them. However, though they sought the secrets of Lantern Jordan and Sapphire Ferris, they ultimately coveted Alan Scott's unique connection with the Starheart far more than any sense of duty to Thaaros.[3]
In their final moments, just before they were incinerated, they chillingly claimed to have seen the Starheart itself.[4]
