HISTORY
Eons ago, a group of powerful Atlantean magicians led by Calculha formed the Twelve Crystals of the Zodiac to help differentiate power and status. The twelve gems contained unparalleled power and were never kept together. Calculha's rival Dark Majistra, taught his son Garn Daanuth sorcery to gather the Twelve Crystals, something which ultimately threatened to destroy Atlantis. Calculha and his son Ahri'ahn sacrificed themselves to avert the cataclysm. Calculha was banished to the Darkworld, Ahri'ahn was transformed into pure energy, and Garn Daanuth's body was drained of all color.
In recent times, the villainous Ocean Master has sought the power of the Twelve Crystals, devastating targets both in Atlantis and on the surface. Each crystal he obtained increased his power. He was opposed once more by his half-brother, Aquaman and ultimately defeated. -Aquaman Vol. 2 #1-#4
SPECIFICATIONS
Of the Twelve Crystals, one was in use as the Royal Seal of Atlantis, another as the Lia Fail of Thierna Na Oge.
