HISTORY

Tritonis is one of the two domed cities of the sunken continent Atlantis. Eons ago, the Atlantean people were split in two factions. One resided in the city of Poseidonis and was ruled by King Orin. The other consisted of followers of Orin's brother Shalako, who founded their own home in the city of Tritonis. A curse made by Shalako later caused the Tritonians to develop fins instead of legs, thereby creating the "mer-people" of myth. Both Tritonis and Poseidonis have endured to this day. Until recently, Tritonis was a kingdom separate from Aquaman's Poseidonis, but in later years Atlantis was referred to as one nation consisting of many confederate states. Among the most well-known inhabitants of Tritonis are Superman's friend Lori Lemaris, her former husband (and later traitor) Ronal, and the heroic King Iqula.
