I'm going to be picking and poking at this series for a while. --DRMOUSE2814 04:21, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
- That I can believe. But there may be a common error creeping in regarding the various sets of Earths - Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis/Zero Hour, and the 52 Multiverse. Namely Green Lantern of Earth-32 - a 52 MV designation but with an earlier origin (Batman: In Darkest Night). I think C:A 1 should be his first appearance with a note that this character stems from an earlier Earth (designation unknown) - as is the case with the Batman of Earth-1889 (Gotham by Gaslight) who, post-52, has become the Batman of Earth-19. I admit, that this may be nitpicking, but this list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DC_Multiverse_worlds) makes it pretty clear. (It is shooting up my GL example, though ... an oversight?) --FrankFlynn61 08:45, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
I laid out C:A 4 for a rough idea how it this index would look, and will start on CA:1 tonight, so please let me know what you think of it. I had thought of breaking out the feature characters into subsets of Supermen, Flashes, Wonder Women but some characters like Captain Atom or Firestrom appear in both their respective camps.
Haven't seen the wikipedia article yet as I've primarily gone by the DCU books, or I'll take the Essential Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman Encyclopedias as reference. I'm taking the stance that Earth-1889, while translated to Earth-19 Post-52, may not be the "exact same" Earth in the original Elseworlds story.. basically "Earth-19 is based on Earth-1889" and whatever happens with an Earth-19 character and/or on Earth-19 itself might not happen on Earth-1889 (wherever that may be). Not sure how to address it in the DCU Guide though. I don't want to even remotely appear to be pretending to set any kind of canon for the DCU, but this would allow for any potential future Elseworld stories without having to come up with a convoluted theory to explain the continuity.--DRMOUSE2814 02:55, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
For the various Earth designations, the WP article cites the "Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths" (2006) volume (which is canon). And your take on Earths 1889 and 19 indeed reflects mine, only I do not think that the former exists any more since the 52 Multiverse has been quoted as the only one remaining in 52#52. And since it all went up in a flash(point) anyway, I do not think there will be any more Elseworlds stories. At least, DC won't call them 'Elseworlds'. Re sorting the heroes: Why not put them in in order of appearance? --FrankFlynn61 09:41, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
