Comment(s):
- This issue is presented as an "Imaginary" Story, telling the "final" story of (the Silver Age) Superman, thus the character links will bring lead to the DCU Guide's Silver Age / Pre-Crisis versions of the characters. The events of this story were later designated as occurring on "Earth-423" in Crisis on Infinite Earths: Absolute Edition (November 2005.)
- The non-flashback portions of this story take place on August 16th, 1997, so the flashback portion takes place in August, 1987.
- Terra-Man and The Parasite die in a fight before the flashback portion of this story.
- Story continues in Action Comics #583.
- This is the final issue of Superman starring the Silver Age version of Superman. The title becomes The Adventures of Superman, continuing the numbering with 424. The title is eventually resumed in May 2006, continuing as issue 650 and starring the post-Crisis Superman.
