Comment(s):

The 48 hour metal-eater virus does not cause any changes to a victim's appearance, but does change their psychology, making the victim hunger for metals while disgusted by their normal foods. The virus would near instantly begin the digestive process on metals, rendering the "food" to be harmless to the virus' host. Perhaps the metal-eater is a creature with a permanent symbiotic relationship to the virus.
