- With this series DC Comics revamped the entire Captain Marvel continuity, and all of his appearances that preceeded it (save for the Legends mini-series) were no longer considered part of the DC continuity. Since then, this series itself have been replaced by another revamp, so allthough chronological references are included, this series is no longer considered part of the current DC continuity, and the issues which are referred to will not refer to this series.
- Furthermore, it should be noted that the characters in this series differ in many ways from the current Captain Marvel continuity. For instance: Billy's father is no longer called Donald Batson but Clarance Batson, Dudley and Sivana are no longer related to Billy, and so forth.
