HISTORY
In the late 30th century, the Green Lantern known as Vidar patrolled sector 2814. He had been a Green Lantern for only a short time when his wife was killed by a group of his enemies. His son, Rond Vidar, was sent to live with relatives on Earth for his protection.
Rond's father was one of three Green Lanterns sent to Earth to stop the Legion of Super-Heroes in their attempt to learn the origins of the universe, a subject forbidden by the Guardians of the Universe. Seeking power, Vidar then attempted to learn the secret himself. He was stopped by the Legionnaires.
The Earthgov soon declared Green Lanterns forbidden on Earth. Vidar was expelled from the Green Lantern Corps for his actions. Rond's father, now known as Universo, was far from inactive. He became a master of hypnotism, and tried to attack the Legion, but was defeated in part by his son, the only person immune to his powers.
Rond Vidar was quite successful in time travel research. He created the Time Cube, which was capable of travelling to virtually all points of the time stream. Rond Vidar was later given the power ring so the Guardians could have a Green Lantern stationed on Earth. Rond kept this a secret from even his closest friends in the Legion.
When Universo took control of the Earth, Rond assisted the Legion in defeating his father again. He was made an honorary Legionnaire, the highest achievement a non-powered being could receive from the Legion.
Rond's experiments in time had a disastrous outcome. His friend, Professor Jaxon Rugarth was changed into the InfinIte Man, locked into a time loop until Rond and Brainiac 5 could rescue him. -Legion of Super-Heroes Vol. 3 #18
Still a dangerous threat, Universo once again gained enough power to seize control of the Earth and the Legion. Universo's ultimate aim was to amass a super-powered strike force to attack Oa. He killed Rond to prevent his son from becoming a threat to his plans. Universo did not count on Chameleon Boy, Brainiac 5, Dream Girl, and Saturn Girl being able to overthrow his power and free Earth.
Rond seemingly returned from the dead to assist Brainiac 5, Duo Damsel, Mon-El, and Saturn Girl in a planned attack on the Time Trapper to avenge the death of Superboy.
In battle, Rond was revealed to be a Green Lantern, to the surprise of even the Time Trapper himself. His power ring assisted the Legionnaires, but even it was no match for the Trapper's powers. The five heroes were saved from the Trapper's onslaught by the return of the Jaxon Rugarth, the Infinite Man, who locked their foe in a perpetual stalemate. -Legion of Super-Heroes Vol. 3 #50
Brainiac 5 was tried for the murder of Jaxon Rugarth, based on the Legion code that he deliberately caused the death of another. Due to the United Planets' ruling against Green Lanterns in UP space, Rond Vidar could not appear in Brainiac 5's defense. He delivered his testimony by power ring projection to the trial. - Legion of Super-Heroes Vol. 3 #51
The Magic Wars decimated technology across space. Though science had appeared to prevail, repercussions were felt at all levels.
5 Year Gap - Glorith Timeline
In the next five years, the economic stability of the United Planets collapsed. Earth eventually seceded from the United Planets, and had been secretly overtaken by the Dominion.
Under constant harrassment by Earthgov, the Legion of Super-Heroes did not last much longer. Legionnaire Laurel Gand resigned to fight the Khundish invasion of UP space. Rond Vidar fought on the frontlines alongside the Daxamite heroine. The two formed a relationship and soon had a daughter, Lauren Gand.
Rond learned of the plight of former Legionnaire Mysa Nal, the White Witch. Following the restoration of Mordru's sorcerous powers, Nal had been abused by the evil ruler of Tharn. The Green Lantern travelled to Tharn with the hope of freeing Mysa Nal. He was no match for Mordru.
Rond Vidar was captured by Mordru. His power ring was destroyed by the sorcerer. The powerless Green Lantern was tortured by his captor, all for amusement. Rond Vidar was finally rescued by the intervention of Rokk Krinn and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
In an unexplained event, the emerald energies of the Green Lanterns' power rings appeared to have been absorbed by a human woman, Celeste Rockfish.
Due to alterations in the fabric of time itself, it remains to be seen if Rond Vidar is destined to wear the power ring.
