HISTORY

Roderick Burgess (born Morris Burgess Brocklesby in the late 19th century) became interested in the magic arts early and founded the Order of Ancient Mysteries. In 1916, he and his associates conducted a ceremony to trap Death. By mistake, they caught Dream instead, and held him imprisoned in the Burgess Estate of Wych Cross for over 80 years. Unable to learn any of Dream’s secrets, Roderick died a bitter old man. His son Alexander took over the business as well as the Sandman.

In his life, Roderick met people such as Aleister Crowley, and Wesley Dodds.
