OVERVIEW
During World War II, a puppy was drafted into the US Army K-9 Corps and subjected to the super-soldier serum of a Doctor Anabolus. With but one injection, Rex mutated into a Wonder-Dog, a canine champion with great strength, speed, stamina, and intelligence above the average human. Anabolus was kille by a Nazi spy shortly afterward, and Rex remained the only of his kind. Rex distinguished himself in service of his country for decades, during World War II, in Korea, and in peacetime as a world-traveling adventurer together with his young owner, Danny Dennis.
In recent years, Rex felt his age and retired, but returned after being rejuvenated by the Fountain of Youth, together with his friend Bobo, the Detective Chimp. Since then, Rex has been active in adventuring, both with Danny Dennis (now a US Army Lieutenant Colonel), with the Bureau of Amplified Animals, and in the company of several super-heroes, including the Flash (Wally West), the Ravers, and Warrior. He adventures also took him off Earth for a while as he hung out with Hero of the Ravers. His aid was of great help to the team and he was considered an honorary member.
Rex had a brother, Pooch, who was the mascot of WW II heroes Gunner and Sarge.
