OVERVIEW
The Realm of the Just Dead is a metaphysical realm where souls gather before they wander further to whatever afterlife is theirs. The Realm of the Just Dead is fog-like realm consisting of ectoplasm which constantly shifts and changes, as the ectoplasm of the realm mimics the forms of the real world. The only inhabitants indigenous to this realm are poltergeist, which are completely mindless beings formed from the ecto-fog at points where particular violent emotions seep through from the living world. The poltergeists resemble human brains with jellyfishlike tentacles and while they are non-malevolent spirits are warned to stay clear of them as they have been known to attack.
The Realm of the Just Dead connects to all of the Afterworlds including the various aspects of Hell and Heaven, as well as Limbo and Domain of the Lords of Order. It is possibly also connected to (or even identical with) the Abysmal Plane and Secret's Between Realm.
The Phantom Stranger has been seen on the edges of this realm escorting deceased souls to their final destination. Deadman and other ghosts sometimes hang around here as well.
