HISTORY

Mitch Anderson was a young boy whose family had been saved by Superman shortly before his death at the hands of Doomsday.

A meta-human, Andersen later developed magnetic powers and took the identity of Outburst, as which he saved the life of Lex Luthor. Shortly thereafter, Luthor formed the "Supermen of America", a loose-knit organization of civilians and meta-humans alike, allegedly designed to embody Superman's principles. (In truth, Luthor sought a way to use the movement to replace Superman.)

Outburst was installed to lead the meta-human Elite Brigade (a.k.a. the Mets) of the Supermen. The team grew to stand on its own and is no longer promoted by Luthor. The Elite Brigade of the Supermen of America still seeks to uphold the ideals of Superman and the heroes have distinguished themselves in battle against such threats as the Warlords of Okaara and the Unimaginable. Outburst and the Supermen of America were last seen siding with Young Justice and their allies, fighting the super-villain army of Agua Sin Gaaz in the Republic of Zandia.
