OVERVIEW

Dave Clark had two main talents: for broadcast radio and for fighting, and used them both to bring in money. In the 1940s, he also fought crime and corruption, wearing a suit and face mask, as the mystery man known as Midnight. As time went on, he supplemented his natural abilities with a vacuum gun, which fired a suction cup attached to a super-strong cord. During the second world war, Midnight allied himself with the Freedom Fighters.

HISTORY

During the early months of 1940, radio announcer Dave Clark stumbled upon the schemes of a crooked builder, whose lax standards and substandard building materials endangered hundreds of lives when a dam broke and a building collapsed. Taking the law into his own hands, Clark put on a simple mask and called himself Midnight after the crime-fighter of a radio serial he had just completed working in.

Fighting crime in his city, Midnight also came to the notice of another young man, who followed in his footsteps in battling injustice and started adventuring as Firebrand. A couple of years later, Midnight began to aid the wartime All-Star Squadron as a member of one of its sub-groups, the Freedom Fighters.

Aided by the crazy inventor 'Doc Wacky' and his talking monkey, Gabby; Midnight battled evil and injustice through 1949. He also made the acquaintance of the private detective Sniffer Snoop.

When he was eventually killed, he requested to be sent to Hell so that he could continue his fight against evil. His present whereabouts are unknown, as is any relation to the masked crimefighter of recent years also called Midnight.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Midnight relied on his wits and his fists primarily. During his youth, Dave Clark roamed the country, picking up useful talents, such as boxing and some acrobatic skills. Later in his career, he used a "bubblegun" which could fire bubbles in an intense stream, enough to knock down a man. He also employed agun which fired suction cups and ropes used for climbing walls. This was sometimes complemented by a .45 pistol, often loaded with sleep darts.
