MADMEN | BIOGRAPHY |
HISTORY
Farley Fleeter and some of his friends put on weird costumes, wigs and oil paint, and went 'mad' while attempting to rob a bank. They were stopped by Blue Beetle II, but managed to escape with his BB Gun. Puzzled by its science, the Madmen attacked Beetle, hoping to learn its secrets. Unfortunately for Fleeter, Beetle gained the upper hand and reclaimed his gun, which he used as a strobe light. After spending time in prison, Fleeter and his boys became petty crooks who started harassing KORD chemist Jeremiah Duncan in the interests of Kreig/Cornelius. The Madmen officially returned when Doctor Alchemy II offered Fleeter big money to attack KORD headquarters in Chicago. They were captured quickly by Blue Beetle and Maxwell Fisher.
While on parole, Fleeter scratched the Beetle, causing him to hallucinate and see multiple Madmen. Fortunately for Beetle, Maxwell Fisher helped him interrogate Fleeter into revealing the antidote. Later on, Fleeter and an associate joined the Legion of Doom, out to destroy Extreme Justice. After disbanding, the Madmen retired, but returned when they were inducted into the Society and placed on guard duties. They also planted a tracer on Blue Beetle, which eventually led to his death. While working with the Society, the Madmen were gunned down by Wild Dog and the new Crimson Avenger during a massive battle in Metropolis, and may all have been killed.
