OVERVIEW

The daughter of Golden Age heroine Fury, Lyta was raised by Miss America, Joan Dale Trevor, remaining unaware of her true parentage until coming of age. She then used the powers inherited from her mother – enhanced strength, speed and agility – to become the new Fury, a member of the JSA Jr. group Infinity, Inc. Here she met and married Hector Hall, the Silver Scarab, with whom she conceived a child. Before the child was born, however, her husband was seemingly killed and taken into the realm of the Dreaming, where Lyta was reacquainted with him. Here he was finally relaesed from mortality by Morpheus, lord of dreams, whose death Lyta was later responsible for, her child Daniel becoming the new persona of Dream. After this, Lyta was trapped in the amulet of Doctor Fate for some time by Mordru, the Dark Lord. She was rescued by her husband, now the new Doctor Fate, and the two took some time to get to know each other anew.

However, their happiness was short-lived. When the Spectre went on a rampage against the magicians of Earth, Doctor Fate was one of his first targets. Fate and Fury were transported to a frozen wasteland, where they grew gradually weaker. Lyta called upon a bargain with her son Daniel, and the two of them were taken into the Dreaming while their mortal bodies perished.

HISTORY

Hippolyta Trevor is the daughter of the Golden Age Fury and was named after her "foster grandmother" Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons of Themyscira. However, Hippolyta or Lyta as she is commonly known didn't know that she was the daughter of the original Fury growing up. Exactly why she was adopted and raised by the wealthy Trevors instead of staying with her biological mother has yet to be revealed. It is quite likely that Fury was so afraid of herself and her powers that she thought it best if Lyta knew nothing of her. Considering the fact that Lyta often spent time with the progeny of the members of the Justice Society of America during her childhood years, the Trevors must have known of her parentage but agreed not to reveal anything. Lyta and her adoptive parents also spent a lot of time on Trevor Island located somewhere off the coast of Australia.

Following her freshman year at Georgetown University, Lyta transferred to UCLA, where she met her childhood friend Hector Hall and they soon became romantically involved. When Lyta told Hector of her dreams of becoming a superhero he showed her the armored Silver Scarab suit he had been working on and the two decided to petition for membership in the Justice Society of America. When they eventually showed up at a JSA meeting to state their case as Silver Scarab and Fury, they were joined by Nuklon (the original Atom's godson) and Northwind (the original Hawkman and Hawkwoman's godson) as well as Jade and Obsidian (the children of the original Green Lantern) but they were all turned down due to their youth and lack of experience.

The six heroes left the meeting feeling somewhat betrayed and they were soon joined by JSA member Star-Spangled Kid who himself had considered leaving the Justice Society and starting a new team. He asked the six heroes if they were interested in forming a new superhero group along with him and Infinity, Inc. was a reality. Lyta became engaged to Hector shortly thereafter and their engagement was announced by the Silver Scarab at the team's first press conference.

But Lyta and Hector's happiness was to be short as Hector fell victim to an ancient Egyptian curse by Hath-Set and he was taken over by an evil entity. The Infinity, Inc. eventually destroyed the entity at the cost of Hector's life. Just before dying Hector learned that Lyta was pregnant with his child. However, death was not to be the end the end of Hector as his spirit had been cast into the dreamworld where the two nightmares Brute and Glob had turned him into their unwittingly pawn as the Sandman in the absence of the real dream lord Morpheus.

From his base in the dream dimension, Hector looked in on Lyta, and at some point he began visiting her one hour every night while she slept, until he was discovered by Nuklon. Once exposed, Hector told Lyta of his new role and he asked her to marry him even though he would only be able to stay out the dream dimension for one hour a day. Lyta accepted his proposal but decided to return with Hector instead. The two then got married and moved into the dream dimension.

Morpheus eventually broke free from captivity, and when he learned of Brute and Glob's disappearance he set out to find them. After locating and recapturing Brute and Glob, he sent their pawn Hector to the realm of the dead and returned Lyta to the waking world. Before leaving her Morpheus informed her that he would one day come to claim her unborn son, who had already spent two years in the dreamstate, and advised her to take good care of him till then. When Loki and Puck some time later kidnapped Daniel, they set in motion events that would have far-reaching consequences for both Lyta and her son. The night after Lyta found her son missing she encountered the Furies in a dream where they told her some details of Daniel's disappearance and that they would meet again. In the following days Lyta slowly began to crack up, and before long, she began walking the streets in a feverish haze. Suddenly remembering what Morpheus had told her, she came to the conclusion that Morpheus had taken her son.

Still feverish Lyta began a journey into the realm of the Dreaming where she encountered the Furies again. She then asked them to destroy the dreamlord for killing her son. The Furies replied that they could only avenge blood debts and that they couldn't help. Disappointed, Lyta left the Furies' house, but before she got too far the Furies told her that he did indeed kill his own son Orpheus. Lyta then made a deal to kill Morpheus for the murder of his own son and was possessed by the power of the Kindly Ones. Using these powers Lyta (now herself an aspect of the Kindly Ones) went on a rampage through the Dreaming, leaving nothing intact in her wake.

Lyta eventually found and killed Morpheus, but before that happened Morpheus had found and freed Daniel from the clutches of Loki and Puck and brought him to his castle. When Morpheus died, his essence was returned to the dreamstone at his castle which in turn transformed Daniel into the next Dream of the Endless. Lyta returned to the waking world with little recollection of what she had done.

Without her husband and child, Lyta gradually grew more and more depressed. By chance, she joined a travelling theatre group on their tour to Greece, only to once again be caught up in the web of supernatural conspiracy. Cronus, an ancient Greek Titan of Myth sought to use Lyta as a weapon against the Furies. Cronus created monsters from drops of Lyta's blood and tried to make her kill them. If she killed them, she would have killed a next of kin and would therefore incur the wrath of the Furies, who would then destroy an aspect of themselves. Daniel, the new dream lord, intervened on Lyta's behalf and the Furies took care of Cronus. Lyta was returned to Earth, reinvigorated and a more balanced person.
