HISTORY

Driven by his thirst for knowledge and adventure, Lonar shuns life with the rest of the New Gods in Supertown in favor of exploring the New Genesis surface. During one of his treks, before the Pact between Apokolips and New Genesis was broken, Lonar stumbled upon the remnants of the Old Gods (who had perished in an epic battle some 5 billion years earlier) and freed the last remaining battle-horse, which he named Thunderer and made his companion. [Forever People Vol. 1 #5 (October-November 1971)]

Preferring solitude and a simple life, Lonar has nevertheless taken a more active part in matters of state in recent times. He has been, albeit briefly, New Genesis’ ambassador on Earth, and he has also served in the Council of Five, as Head of Off-Planet Operations. [Cosmic Odyssey #1 (1988); New Gods Vol. 2 #3 (April 1989)]

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Lonar is a skilled tracker, hunter and explorer with a keen and deductive mind. During his expeditions on the New Genesis surface, he rides the mighty battle-horse Thunderer.

Like all New Gods, Lonar possesses superhuman strength and durability, as well as an extremely long life-span, but has not displayed any special powers of his own. He is however a skilled warrior, well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. (When the New Gods and the Bugs settled a dispute through combat, Lonar was the champion chosen to stand against Forager II.)
